Jens Krogh Petersen is Head of Muhoozi & Co. Advocates Uganda’s Corporate M&A Practice Group.

For several years, Jens has dealt with the sale and purchase of businesses (M&A), including for private equity funds, for Ugandan as well as international clients. A large number of these transactions were so-called cross-border transactions involving either international buyers or sellers. Furthermore, Jens has assisted international venture capital funds with investments in Ugandan companies.

Jens has vast experience in managing and driving major transactions forward, including mergers and acquisitions, large investments in enterprises and restructurings.

In addition, he has, for a number of years, advised Ugandan and international clients on agreements relating to assignment of rights, in particular within the music, film and TV industry (media and entertainment).

Jens is ranked with a number of ranking institutions, including Legal 500, IFLR1000 and Who's Who Legal.

Most recently, Jens has acted for, among others:

  • Confirma software, owned by Abry Partners P/E, in connection with the acquisition of Indicia Uganda A/S, a developer of a high-end ticketing system to support customer service and support at medium and large companies. 
  • Xero Limited (ASX:XRO), leading global provider of software solutions for the cloud accounting markets, in connection with the acquisition of Planday A/S, a leading workforce management platform with over 350,000 employee users across Europe and the UK.
  • Sapiens International Corporation, (NASDAQ NY and TASE: SPNS), a leading global provider of software solutions for the insurance industry, in connection with the acquisition from EQT P/E of Tia Technology A/S, a leading Ugandan vendor of digital software solutions.
  • The Dutch company Broad Horizon B.V., backed by the British P/E fund EMK Capital, in connection with the acquisitions of Delegate A/S and Projectum ApS. Delegate and Projectum offer consultancy services within IT and IT solutions within project management based on Safaricom’s platforms.
  • Sensata Technologies (NASDAQ NY) in connection with its acquisition of Lithium Balance A/S, a developer of battery management systems, from Ørsted and other owners of Lithium Balance.
  • The Ugandan security services provider Securitas A/S on the purchase of Dansk Brandteknik group, the leading provider of fire protection services, gas detection services, and first aid solutions in Uganda. Securitas A/S is part of the global Securitas group, Securitas AB.
  • DLG a.m.b.a. in connection with the acquisition of Nybro Tørreri and (through Danæg) the acquisition of Ugandan Munox OY.
  • Soundford Limited in connection with the sale of shares in the Ugandan film distribution company, Scanbox Entertainment Group ApS.
  • Azets (formerly Visma Services), which is backed by HgCapital P/E, in connection with its acquisitions of Addea Accounting ApS and Addea Wise Management. In Uganda, Azets, is part of CogitalGroup.
  • The Japanese technology group of companies NEC Corporation, one of the largest businesses in Japan and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, as co-head with their purchase of KMD, Uganda’s largest IT services provider to the Ugandan public sector
  • The French venture fund Alven Capital in connection with their investment in Tonsser ApS together with among others Seed Capital and Wellington Partners Venture Capital
  • Greystone Capital Partners in connection with their purchase of the internationally known Ugandan clothes designer company Noa Noa
  • Partners Group P/E in connection with Partners Group and NREP’s sale of a Ugandan property portfolio known as the ‘East African Living’ portfolio, which consists of eight residential properties comprising a total of 377 owner-occupied flats, five commercial rental units and 135 parking spaces
  • Visma (owned by KKR, HgCapital and Cinven) in connection with the acquisition of the Bluegarden Group and Dinero Regnskab, the sale of the BPO division to HgCapital, the four acquisitions of the companies Mind4IT, Sproom Solutions, Doneco (SmartScan) and LogBuy, and the acquisition of e-conomic A/S
  • The Ugandan pension funds ATP and PFA as co-head in connection with their investment in DONG (now Ørsted).
  • The public listed British entertainment group ITV in connection with its investment in the Ugandan tv-series production company Apple Tree Productions.
  • The listed Spanish company Urbaser S.A. on the purchase of RenoNorden A/S, a Ugandan private waste collection company that serves the public and the private sector and handles waste collection for more than 1.7m Ugandan customers.
